WIDDOP (NEAR HEBDEN BRIDGE)

8"x 6" Oils. I used just 3 colours for this little painting - French Ultramarine, Crimson Alizarin and Cad Yellow Light. These were from a 'water-mixable oil' starter-pack made by Holbein, called DUO AQUA OIL. Never used them before, but must admit, they felt much nicer to paint with than the Artisan range from W&N. They also felt better than the Cobra range of water-mixables!

Although I messed up this painting tonally, I was still quite pleased with it overall because it only took an hour or so to complete and it's a step in the right direction for the kind of painting I want to do.

Our Own Art-Club!

Each Friday we go to the local Art-Club in Horwich. It's a thriving club with a broad range of people of all ages and skill-levels. Apart from the regular painting sessions, we have many professional artists visiting us to demonstrate their skills and to run workshops.

But sometimes, it's nice when just a few friends get together mid-week too, and so here we are in Simon's "studio", benefitting from the skill and experience of his father, Brian Waddington. It looks a bit cramped in there, but we were just huddled together to fit in the photo frame :-)

And you can drink beer in this club! :-)
