3 COLOUR PALETTE

I painted this last night after watching a painting DVD. I used a 3-colour palette and really enjoyed it. I'm gonna stick with it because it certainly makes you think more about colour-mixing!

Hi, This is a nice little composition. I think the smaller scale helps when trying to make those all important value judgements in a short period of time. For me that's the key to outdoor landscape work. Too big a scale and you can waste time and energy trying to get the canvas covered.
Incidently I'm using a 10x8 Alla Prima Pochade from Ben Haggart in the States. It's a cracking piece of kit.
I may see you out and about sometime as I paint around Morecambe Bay. Cheers, Paul.

Many thanks for your kind comments Paul. Having looked at your own blog (and subscribed), it's very clear that you are FAR, FAR, FAR ahead of me with your painting.

I was gobsmacked by some of the wonderful landscapes you've painted and the fact that they're of local scenes makes them even more interesting.

Your still-life work is also very interesting to me and I absolutely adore the one called "ONIONS".

I very much look forward to seeing more of your work.

Regards,

Tom.

Our Own Art-Club!

Each Friday we go to the local Art-Club in Horwich. It's a thriving club with a broad range of people of all ages and skill-levels. Apart from the regular painting sessions, we have many professional artists visiting us to demonstrate their skills and to run workshops.

But sometimes, it's nice when just a few friends get together mid-week too, and so here we are in Simon's "studio", benefitting from the skill and experience of his father, Brian Waddington. It looks a bit cramped in there, but we were just huddled together to fit in the photo frame :-)

And you can drink beer in this club! :-)
